Yes. opencream TV is free and open source under the GPL-3.0 license. You don't pay to activate it and you don't create an account. Every feature is the same for everyone. If you like it, you can tip Matthias a coffee. It unlocks nothing extra.

No. It includes no channels, playlists, films or series. You enter the login of an IPTV service you already subscribe to, and opencream TV plays it. You are responsible for making sure that service, and your use of it, are legal where you live. We don't sell, recommend or link to any provider, and we can't help you choose one.

Matthias at opencream.ai (Opencream SASU, a company in Chantilly, France). It started as the home screen for his own living room and has been used there every evening since. opencream TV is independent and not affiliated with or endorsed by Samsung.

Samsung smart TVs from 2019 or newer, which run Tizen 5.0 or later. We test on a 2023 QN90C running Tizen 8. Owners report other models on the compatibility page. TVs from before 2019 refuse the install, so nothing half-works.

It gives you a home screen without ads, and you can set the TV to start in it. Samsung's own home is still on the TV: the remote's Home button opens it, and no app can change that. Inside Samsung's other screens, nothing changes.

Yes. In Samsung's Settings, go to General, Start Screen Options. Turn on Autorun Last App and turn off Start with Smart Hub Home. To get back from Samsung's home quickly, move opencream TV to the far left of Samsung's app row, then press Home and OK.

Yes. HDMI inputs appear as tiles on the home screen, and you can name each one. One press switches the TV to that input.

Once, from a computer on the same network. Turn on Developer Mode on the TV, then install with Apps2Samsung, a free community installer, or ask a coding agent such as Claude Code or Codex to do it. It takes about 20 minutes the first time. The install guide has every step.

Developer Mode is a setting built into Samsung TVs for installing apps from a computer. opencream TV installs as a normal TV app. It doesn't root or change the TV's system, and you can uninstall it like any other app.

You install it yourself, outside Samsung's store, so store removals don't affect it. An uninstall or a factory reset removes it, like any app. If a firmware update ever changes Developer Mode, you reinstall the same way.

The same way you installed it. Open Apps2Samsung and update opencream TV. Your login, your home screen and your favorites stay on the TV.

Xtream Codes: a server address, a username and a password. You can enter several server addresses separated by commas, and the app switches to the next one if a server drops. M3U playlists are planned for a later version.

No. The app has no account and contains no tracking or analytics. Your IPTV login is stored on the TV. For the weather, Open-Meteo receives the town you type and sees the TV's internet address, like any website would. ip-api.com is contacted only if you ask the app to find your town from your connection.
