opencream TV

A free IPTV player for Samsung TVs

opencream TV plays your IPTV service on the TV itself, with the TV's own hardware player. Log in with your Xtream Codes details and you get live TV with a guide, plus films and series. The app also gives you a calm home screen for your other apps.

It's free and open source. You install it once, and there's no activation fee per TV.

opencream TV includes no channels. You need a subscription with an IPTV service that is legal where you live.

Real app footage: open Live TV, zap with CH up and CH down. Every channel here is fictional.

Live TV

  • Fast channel start. The app uses the TV's built-in video player. On our 2023 QN90C a channel starts in about a second.
  • Guide over the picture. See what's on now and next without leaving the channel.
  • CH up and CH down. Zap through your list with the remote's channel buttons.
  • Favorites. Hold OK on a channel to add it.
  • Backup server. Enter more than one server address, separated by commas. If one drops, playback moves to the next by itself.
  • Your countries. Pick which countries and languages appear. Everything else stays out of the lists and out of search.
  • Adult groups behind a PIN.
The live TV guide: countries, groups, the channel list and what is on now and next.
After CH up: channel 4 Pitch One playing with its info banner.

Films and series

  • Resume where you stopped.
  • Pick the audio track and subtitles during playback.
  • Find the same title in other languages or in 4K, when your service offers them, in the same menu.
  • Seasons and episodes in one list.
Film detail for The Long Coast with Resume from 47:12.
The audio and subtitles menu during playback, with English 5.1, Deutsch, Français and English 4K.
Series detail for Harbour Street with seasons and the episode list.

One search for everything

Type a word and see matching channels, films and series, plus what's on in the program guide. On our QN90C it searches about 31,000 guide entries in 0.2 seconds.

Search results for kite across a channel, guide programs, a movie and a series.

Xtream Codes on a Samsung TV

Most IPTV services give you an Xtream Codes login: a server address, a username and a password. That's all opencream TV needs. You type it into the installer's form, or on the TV the first time the app opens.

M3U playlist links are planned for a later version. If your service only gives you an M3U link, opencream TV can't play it yet.

Your login is stored on the TV, and we never see it.

A home screen comes with it

opencream TV is also the screen you start from. Your YouTube, Netflix and other installed apps sit on the same row as Live TV, Movies and Series, along with tiles for your consoles.

Questions

Is this IPTV player really free?

Yes. opencream TV is free and open source (GPL-3.0). You don't pay per TV, now or later. You can support it with a coffee if you want to.

Does it come with channels?

No. It plays the service you already subscribe to. We don't sell, recommend or link to any IPTV provider.

Is it in Samsung's app store?

No. You install it once from a computer with the TV in Developer Mode, using Apps2Samsung or a coding agent. Because it isn't installed from the store, store changes don't remove it.

Which Samsung TVs does it run on?

Models from 2019 onward (Tizen 5.0+). We test on a 2023 QN90C. Other models are listed on the compatibility page.

How does it compare with other IPTV players on Samsung?

See our comparisons with IPTV Smarters and Smart IPTV.
